Hi There...

I'm Kaydin, and I am a third-year university student in the User Experience Program at Laurier University. I hope to help my community through innovative and inclusive research, designs, and illustrations.

I would love to join a team that allows me to work with other amazing individuals with the same values as mine, and that allows me to grow, learn, and explore through design and research.

All About Me

I am Kaydin Smith-Cyr, a 21-year-old User Experience student at Laurier University. I have been fascinated by art and design since I was young, creating paintings, sewing, and crafting things that I hoped would bring joy to my friends, family, and myself. Creating was a way to express myself and the experiences I've had throughout my life. I know that it's the case for many people that creation is a form of expression and problem-solving, and I believe that people's experiences should be the basis of every good design.

I grew up and am located in a smaller city in Ontario, I have seen first hand how poverty, drug-use, and discrimination has effected my community. I am very lucky to have had the education and upbringing that I do because I can recognize that so many haven't had the same opportunities that I had. My hope is to help create research and designs that are empowering, accessible, and creative.

All About My Values

My design values are inclusion, empathy, and empowerment for users.

I have always been passionate about taking care of others ever since I was young. In my elementary school I began a club called the "Kindness Club" we collected money and donations, this was one of my first attempts to spread empathy through organization. I continued to work on spreading kindness and understanding throughout high school as well, through the creation of "Student Anti-Racism Coalition" (created by me and friends) and through my participation in "Student Senate" and "Indigenous Student Council".
